On Butterflies of Wisdom today, Best-Selling Author, Win Kelly Charles and Juan Carlos Gill welcomes Amanda Boxtel. Amanda’s story is a universal message of hope. After more than two decades of paralysis and a journey across continents, her pursuit is one of spirit-mind-body transformation. While her spinal cord injury took away her ability to walk, it didn’t take away her ability to dream. Today she is turning her dreams into her reality one-baby-step at a time. On February 27th, 1992 a freak skiing accident rendered her a paraplegic. On that fateful day, at the age of 24, Amanda’s life took a dramatic turn and her dance on wheels began. It happened in a split second while downhill skiing – she somersaulted, an electric current ricocheted through her legs, and instantly she knew she was paralyzed. Since sustaining a permanent spinal cord injury, Amanda has become a strong advocate for people with disabilities and has been involved in community and outreach projects that aim to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities. Amanda presents from her bionic exoskeleton suit, walking across the stage and demonstrating to her audiences the power of bionic technology. She is a passionate and dynamic motivational speaker who captivates her audiences with her stories, weaves in the valuable lessons she has learned along the way, and warms their hearts with laughter and compassion. She focuses her energy to present fresh material in a polished style. She has been featured as a speaker at numerous conferences and venues including TEDCity2.0 (Chengdu, China), TED2011, TEDx San Antonio, TEDxDU, TEDxSF, The Aspen Ideas Festival, 20th Century Fox Studios, Aspen Brain Forum, and Singularity University’s European Summit. Amanda has appeared in magazines, news publications, and on major television networks globally such as CNN, CBS Sunday Morning, National Geographic Channel, PBS Nova, Al Jazeera America, Sky News UK, BBC World News Horizons, ITV Daybreak UK, Sat.1 Bayern Germany, RUV Iceland, ABC’s Australian Story, and 60 Minutes Australia.

Amanda’s overall message is one of never giving up in pursuit of the best quality of life possible. From her life experiences, she has a greater sense of healing and that transformation occurs from within. She believes in the divine connectedness to all things, and she aspires to help make the world a better place for future generations. Amanda currently serves as Executive Director for Bridging Bionics Foundation, which aims to bridge human mobility with exoskeletons and bionic technology. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, painting, and drawing. She lives near Aspen in Basalt, Colorado. To learn more about Amanda visit http://amandaboxtel.com/. On Butterflies of Wisdom today, Best-Selling Author, Win Kelly Charles welcomes Juan Carlos Gil.  Juan was born November 16, 1981, in the city of Medellin, Colombia. In 1986, Juan moved to Miami Florida.  When Juan arrived in America, he was only five years old, and he did not speak one word of English.  Juan was born prematurely and as a result, have two disabilities. Juan is legally blind and has Cerebral Palsy.  Juan had to have numerous surgeries on his eyes and legs.  Juan’s family and he moved to Miami, so Juan was able to receive better health care and education. While Juan was in elementary school, in 1991, his P.E. teacher told him about wheelchair racing.  That winter, Juan started his first wheelchair competition in the Orange Ball Sports Ability Games that was hosted by Miami Day Public School System.  At these games, Juan started wheelchair racing in an everyday wheelchair or hospital chair. Many countries that came to the game saw that Juan had the determination and potential to be an active wheelchair racer.  For example, the Canadian and the Israeli Para-Olympic coaches invited Juan to race for their countries.  At this time, Juan was only ten years old!  Juan had to decline their offer because he was still in school. Juan continued to race until he went to high school and he was awarded a grant by the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind that allowed me to obtain a push-rim racing chair.  This gave me the ability to race around the nation which made him euphoric. In 2001, Juan had the opportunity to go to the junior national sport knowledge games. Juan was one of over five-hundred athletes that went to New Jersey for three weeks. This was during the summer, and we went there for various track and field events. Juan was the only athlete that came who was visually impaired. Overall, Juan came in third place for his races. Juan’s determination and tenacity have helped he progress to successfully coming in second place for his races even though Juan wanted to be in first place. Four years after Juan graduated from high-school, Mary Bryant approached him while Juan was doing his first marathon in Miami in the push-rim that was given to him while Juan was in high school. Juan was on the first bridge in the Miami marathon when Mary Bryant approached him and asked him if Juan would consider handcycle is racing the year after with Achilles International Track Club. Juan wanted to give it a try, so Juan took the offer and told her that he would. In 2007, Juan was doing the Avis North American racing tour when Achilles gave him a hand cycle.  With this hand cycle, Juan has done many marathons and bike races across the country as the only legally blind people, like the M.S. 150 (Multiple Sclerosis 150 mile bike ride.) and the A1A marathon. In 2008, Juan was awarded Avis’ We Try Harder award. In February of 2008, Juan participated in the A1A marathon, and he came in second place. When Juan did the A1A marathon, he saw the beauty of what Fort Lauderdale has to offer with its pristine beach front. Juan’s goal in A1A was to finish in one hour and forty-five minutes.  Juan wanted to achieve this goal not only prove it to himself, but also to other people too, that a visually impaired person is capable of doing this kind of races so long as that is what their heart desires to do.  When one reads the above information about Juan, they will recognize how Juan is strong and dedicated to achieving his goals.  Juan is going to keep working hard and not give up on things.  Juan would like to take the time to thank you for taking the time to read this article and learning more about him. To find out more about Juan email him at juan2617@gmaill.com. To learn more about Win Kelly Charles visit https://wincharles.wix.com/win-charles. On Butterflies of Wisdom today, Best-Selling Author, Win Kelly Charles and Juan Carlos Gill welcomes Gianna Rojas. For Gianna of Oak Ridge, NJ, no obstacle is too daunting to tackle. Having been born without fingers on her left hand, Gianna is known as the “one-handed lady golfer.” She strives to bring attention to golfing success stories of people with physical challenges, and by sharing her story she hopes to inspire others who may question their abilities. Gianna began playing golf nearly ten years ago as a way to experience the game her husband deeply loves. After learning how to adapt her swing to her disability, Gianna developed a passion for golf and recognized an opportunity to advocate for others through her participation in the sport. At a young age, Gianna was the poster child for the March of Dimes, and today she works for the organization as the Community Director in their Parsippany, NJ, office. Also, she is a member of numerous women- and golf-focused charitable organizations, and recently founded Adaptive Golfers, a nonprofit that brings the game of golf to people with different abilities. Gianna will celebrate her 4th year as a volunteer at The Barclays when the PGA TOUR tournament is held at the Black Course at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, NY, from August 23-28, 2016. During the tournament, Gianna will assist as a course marshal at hole 10, a spot she looks forward to returning to each year, as she has developed friendships with the volunteers who are assigned to her area.  As a marshal, her primary role is crowd control. Also, she will help keep the pace of play up and respond to golfers' questions or concerns. “Volunteering with the PGA TOUR is exciting because it allows an up-close look at professional golf, but even more importantly, it is rewarding because it presents an opportunity to support charity and make lasting friendships,” said Gianna. “As a volunteer, I have the chance to make someone’s experience memorable, and that could be a player, a fan, another volunteer or staff member. I feel it is a privilege to share in the experience.” So, when Gianna learned of an opportunity to enhance her tournament experience and support charity through the PGA TOUR Volunteer Challenge, sponsored by Myrbetriq® (mirabegron), she jumped at the chance to participate. Tournament volunteers, like Gianna, are participating in the Volunteer Challenge, a friendly competition designed to raise funds for non-profit organizations while recognizing the talent, passion and commitment of PGA TOUR volunteers in communities nationwide. The Barclays is one of 16 tournaments hosting the Volunteer Challenge during the 2016 season. As part of the program, volunteers ask friends and family to vote at PGATOUR.com/volunteers, and when voting ends on August 27, the volunteer with the most votes will earn the chance to present a $10,000 check to The First Tee of Metropolitan New York. In addition, $5,000 will be donated to the winner’s charity of choice (Gianna would designate the funds to March of Dimes), and top-ranking tournaments can earn additional charitable funds based on the total number of votes earned collectively by volunteers and the tournament – up to $60,000. this podcast will be in Spanish too

My will to live, the support of my family, medical and occupational professionals and above all else believing in the higher power are all that has allowed me the chance of being able to share my story as I thrive on being an advocate for people with disabilities. I do so by building professional relationships, raising awareness in different topics, event planning/fundraising, motivational speaking, and radio announcing. I was born with Spina Bifida. My parents were told that I would not live very long and if so, I would remain a vegetable confined to a wheelchair dependent on others for the rest of my life.

In 2011, I was named Ambassador of Change through the Broward Children Center and Leadership Broward Program for educating young children in the second grade about disabilities, with the hope of decreasing bullying in the schools. In addition, I enjoy using my talent of communication to inform and include the community on disability related topics and events through multiple appearances on Cox Media's HOT105, 99JAMZ, and Radio Disney. I have also participated in interviews, worked multiple voice overs as well as an infomercial in affiliation with Cox Media, and participate as a host for Talent TV Productions, giving the talented artist the opportunity to be recognized.

Since 2011, I had been a part of the production for Independence on the Runway, "No Limits!" fashion show showcasing our abilities on the runway. Without limits in addition to Inspiration Runway, DisAbility Expo and my latest, Inclusion through Entertainment since 2014 which features performers with and without disabilities, an all-inclusive fashion show, adaptive sports along with more fun for the entire family, all to benefit kids and young adults in our community through more social event, assistive technology, and more.

In 20014, I was invited to share my story of triumph and adversity Univision station and had my depute on television! My goal is to fight for inclusion. My goal is for every person to know that we all have abilities and understand that there are services to help us reach our full potential. I do this by communicating, writing, media, and using all the ways possible to arrive at a larger number of the community. I would like to discuss the possibility of hosting or being a special guest at the next Spina Bifida walk as testimony that we may have Spina Bifida but it doesn't have to control our life, we have talents and abilities. To learn more, please join my page facebook.com/letsintegrate I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Currently working on my 3rd annual Inclusion Through Entertainment event taking place 9/11 More info at FUNclusion.com and I'm also A part of the Bold Beauty Project

On Butterflies of Wisdom today, Best-Selling Author, Win Kelly Charles welcomes Dave Sanderson. A business meeting that ended early... That’s how it all began on January 15, 2009, for Dave, a top-notch tech sales manager who spent more time on the road than he wanted, away from his wife and four children. He had finished work sooner than anticipated and wanted to get home. It was the least he could do to make up for the time he spent working two jobs trying to make a better life for them all. He called his travel agent, who was able to procure a seat for him on an earlier flight departing from New York’s LaGuardia Airport for Charlotte, North Carolina. Sanderson boarded, moved down the aisle to seat 15A, and fastened his seatbelt for taking. The night had been delayed as an earlier blizzard in the area cleared. Now it was cold and bright and clear, a perfect day for flying. A few moments later, what happened to US Airways Flight 1549 was to become known around the world as The Miracle on the Hudson. On its initial climb, a  rock of Canada geese collided with the Airbus 320, crippling both engines. Captain Chesley B. Sullenberger knew he couldn’t make it to any of the nearby airports, and there was only one option left: to attempt a water landing and put the plane down safely in the Hudson River. The passengers heard the Captain’s words over the PA system -- “Brace for impact” – and then the plane crashed. In his window seat, Sanderson ascertained how quickly he could get to an exit as the plane started taking on water. But then he heard his late mother’s voice in his head: “If you do the right thing, God will take care of you.” So he made the right choice, staying behind to help people who needed help get o  the plane rest. As one of the last passengers on the plane, Sanderson realized that if the Airbus sank, he might be sucked down into it. He had no other choice but to take a leap of faith...on this day, literally and guratively. Sanderson plunged into the frigid 36-degree waters of the Hudson and started to swim to the nearest rescue ferry heading toward the scene. As the last of his strength ebbed, he was pulled aboard, taken ashore, and rushed to the hospital, where he was treated for hypothermia and an eye injury from exposure to jet fuel. Microscopic time had elapsed from crash to rescue to his trip to the hospital, where the medical sta was concerned that he might die. “It took only 30 minutes for my life to change forever,” Sanderson said. He explains it in the simplest of terms: an extraordinary event that changed the life of one ordinary person forever. To learn more about Dave visit http://davesandersonspeaks.com/.
